A Tale of Two Cities is a card driven wargame playable with a normal chess board + a poker deck + 6 D6 dices. This simplicity and portability do not detract from its depth. (It is a 2 player game and playing time is around 45-60 min)*.
It has 4 units types: Light Infantry, Heavy Infantry, Bow Infantry and Light Cavalry.
4 random Terrain squares with forests and hills.
24 cards distributed in 16 sector cards + 5 special cards + 3 reinforcement cards.
Victory is achieved by destroying the enemy’s City (tower). A player may concede defeat if his forces are overwhelmed and is unable to defend his Home City. The two main inspirations for this game are Commands & Colors: Ancients for the card mechanics and The Portable Wargame for the use of an ordinary chess board. A player used to any Commands & Colors will pick this game in one minute. The player may replace chess pieces with miniatures if he wants. An AI for solo play is in development.
